Wax Modelling Full Day Class
Introduction to wax carving for lost wax casting
Make Your Own Quality Jewellery
This class is for all students; beginners, current or previous students. If you have already done a Wax Modelling class and want to have more practice or make another piece, please feel free to book in again. If you want to get involved in wax modelling but have never done a class with us before, we recommend you do our come and try jewellery class first and discuss with Josh, our jeweller about getting involved in wax modelling. Learn some basic skills for creating wax models. In this class we will begin with basic exercises to learn how to cut a block of wax, mark it out, file it to shape and carve simple designs. Wax carving is a skill that is simple to set up for exploring further at home and almost any form or shape is possible to create with this technique. The wax model will need to be sent off site for casting, but the cleanup and polishing of the castings can be completed during our usual fortnightly jewellery classes or once off classes. The class times will be from 1:30-8pm with half hour break from 6-6:30pm and we recommend getting dinner from the Charleston Hotel just around the corner, which you can pre-order from 5:30pm. What to wear: - Casual dress code but you MUST wear enclosed footwear, long hair tied back and no loose flowing clothing. If you turn up in inappropriate shoes, you will not be able to participate in the class. - If you usually wear glasses for up close work, please bring them! Appropriate for: - Suitable for beginners or existing students. Age 18+ (we can accomodate 16 and 17 year olds but a guardian needs to contact us to discuss before booking) Please note: we need at least 4 people in a class to be able to run the class, so if there are not enough people in the class you have booked, we may need to reschedule.
